Highland Ramblers at Dulcineas - Suboptimal conditions...
This show was pretty interesting. I think it was their first show in a venue as big as Dulcinea's (which can probably hold 200 people but which probably had about 75-100 people or so). The last show was at the [Denver RooBar](http://www.denverroobar.com) and they didn't have the proper sound equipment to really be heard over the bar noise. Here at Dulcineas, the situation was better but not by much.
Perhaps I've been spoiled by the other shows I've attended, but I was disappointed by how hard it was to hear the actual music. It seemed like a lot of the fans were there just to see their friends play, or as an excuse to go out drinking, but most of the audience was more interested in talking (yelling) to their friends than they were interested in just listening to the music.
I did enjoy the music I could hear and I was impressed by the breadth of instruments they brought and played: washtub bass, washboard, jug, guitars, banjo, mandolin.
One tip to the band: leave the baseball hats at home. Your audience has a harder time connecting when they can't see your face.
It was, not surprisingly, too late for me as well. We left at about midnight which meant that we didn't get to hear the Henhouse Prowlers, but I did purchase a Henhouse Prowlers CD which I enjoy so far.
### Highland Ramblers Practice Videos
The band did record themselves practicing and posted it to youtube - very interesting use of web promotion...
