wouldn't see Trucks again

a buddy had an extra ticket; this is not music i listen too much; i went expecting to learn something about contemporary blues, and at times found myself more interested in thinking about how it had come to this from traditional blues than in enjoying the music itself; still, i came away with an impression more than a specific critique

overall, Trucks seemed to overshadow Tedeschi and she seemed pissed, especially toward the end of the concert; Trucks didn't convey the kind of infectious enthusiasm that is one way a live concert can really work for me, nor did i feel he was a really a great improviser; he mostly seemed to be in his head; the other musicians were very good, but there was something not-quite-raw that made it not click

my buddy, who knows both Trucks' & Tedeschi's music well, was also disappointed; he came more to see Susan Tedeschi, and said they didn't play many of her songs

about the venue -- the portable chairs they laid out up front were uncomfortable and weren't evenly spaced; our row barely had knee room while in the next one people could walk by while others sat
